my Journey
And here I am: Beatrice, born and raised in a small town in the remote Italian region of Friuli, nestled between the Alps and the Prosecco vineyards.
Friuli itself has perhaps helped shape my path: on the one hand, this region could be considered primarily rural until the 1950s, where communities gained independence through collaboration, with a remarkable appreciation for practicality and bluntness. On the other hand, in my case, growing up in a small town at the dawn of the third millennium, I inevitably began to wonder what might be out there in the world.
At the end of high school, I chose to follow my curiosity and passion for craftsmanship, enrolling in a three-year tailoring and patternmaking course; than I took my first steps as a seamstress, being lucky enough to assist and collaborate with some of the most talented professionals in the field, who passed on to me part of their knowledge, fostering in me a passion for this profession that bridges art and industry, by sometimes setting aside mental stability.
After eight years in Milan, I moved back home, finding a niche workshop where I could focus on uncompromising quality. Finally, in 2025, I relocated to New York City, ready to continue expanding my horizons, both personally and professionally.
"The world will never know", wrote once Quirino Conti, referring to the dedication behind a tailored garment. Well, the world may never know, but I'm always trying to understand a little more about it...

My career as a seamstress began at Dolce&Gabbana in 2018, where I was hired as a hand seamstress in the womenswear sample department. As I gradually learned the company's processes and standards, I had the opportunity to participate in various projects that further broadened my understanding of this industry.
I participated in the production of fashion shows and events, providing support with post-fitting alteration and in the backstage; I handled alterations for VIP clients at national and international events, traveling with the dedicated team and I also collaborated with the Alta Moda embroidery department on a couple of fashion shows.
At Dolce&Gabbana, my curiosity matched the endless number of projects I had to tackle, and I quickly became an independent hand seamstress in my day-to-day work, while also coordinating with superiors and other team in collaboration with the tailoring department on different events. Finally, I was responsible for managing the hand seamstresses during fashion shows and fittings, and for training new employees without experience.

In 2023, after returning to my hometown, I worked at Mario Borean; a third-party tailoring workshop that focuses on sample development, small batch production and the creation of couture and made-to-measure garments for prominent Italian and international clients.
At Mario Borean, I was able to improve my skills as a seamstress, working both as a hand- and machine operator. Furthermore, since it is a small workshop, I was much more involved in decision-making regarding the construction of garments.
The variety of clients proved to be a novelty and therefore an interesting challenge, having to adapt techniques based on the client's requests while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Startec specializes in highly customizable agricultural machinery equipment, similarly to bespoke tailoring: where no two suits are the same, and where the customer's needs come first.
These aspects, combined with the company's commitment to producing high-quality, long-lasting equipment, sparked an unexpected curiosity in me about the uncharted world of agricultural machinery (a rather interesting world, if you ask me), that felt so distant yet so close at the same time.
In 2024, I began working there handling logistics, organizing national and international shipments, and managing the related documentation. As I gradually learned about the products, I began working in sales department, helping clients choose the equipment best suited to their needs, as well as providing after-sales customer service and supporting the company at the industry's main international exposition.

After completing high school in Friuli, I moved to Milan to start my education in the fashion field. The choice fell on Istituto Secoli, a post-diploma institute that for over than 90 years has focused on training professionals for the fashion industry, especially in the technical departments.
I chose the Tailoring and Pattern-making program because it focused on the practical aspects in fashion, which are the ones that fascinate me the most; with over 1,200 hours of pattern-making classes and over 600 hours of sewing classess overall.
I graduated with top marks, earning a couple mentions on my thesis peoject for creativity and originality and construction complexity and innovation.
Alongside the main three year program, I participated in other complementary courses and initiatives at Istituto Secoli, in order to exploit the opportunities available and broaden my knowledge. In particular, I attended a 6 month course on Women Bespoke Tailoring, completing it with top marks.
Attending Istituto Secoli, I gained a broad and detailed understanding of garment construction, from underweare to heavyweight garments, from technical developement to hand finishing. This freshly acquired knowledge has certainly been helpful, if not necessary, during the first steps of my career in Dolce&Gabbana.
